2007 SUCCESS!
It has been a great year for asymetrics at castle cove...and the end of season reports demonstrate how our racing turnout has remained good...see the end of season report on the club website...thankyou Pete for putting that together.
It has also been a good season on the road, with castle cove sailors participating in events around the country. We have seen the rapid growth of the Laser 2000 at the club, which is exciting to see and clearly demonstrates how fleets will emerge within the 'asymmetric bracket.' I think it also became clear this season that there seems to be a range of faster asymmetrics whose handicaps are close enough to provide competitive racing, i.e the Musto, 800, Int Canoe and Int 14....
Next season looks to be even better with the musto/2000 open at ccsc in September which i recommend and hope everyone will try and borrow a boat for....worth trying sail laser or the laser class association for that. It is important however that we put on a good show not only for the visiting sailors but to other castle cove members...to ensure asymmetric opens will be run at the club again.
2008- It is important that we continue what we have started....by attracting more new and current members to the wonders of asymmetric sailing where one can benefit from the fruits of better racing, more time on the water...less time fiddling and generally funner/faster boats to sail.
Ohh and i will continue to try and promote this blog as a key tool...for being at uni now this is probablly the easiest way to keep in touch with whats going on in the Castle Cove world.
Hugh...
Merry christmas everyone!

MUSTO SKIFFS...the safety tack
A step by step guide to tacking an MPS in all conditions...
1. (upwind wiring) Cleat the main sail and chuck the tail into the boat.
2. Now you cant de-power effectively (only with steering) so '2.' comes very quickly after '1.'...unhook and 'handle it'.
3. Start to steer into the turn while moving into the boat (keep it flat).
4. While ducking under the boom uncleat the mainsheet.
5. Once on the new side leave the main uncleated and step forward in the boat till level with spinny blocks (this will stop the boat getting stuck in irons)
6. Next clip on while in the middle of the boat and pull on the mainsheet as you step onto the rack.
Hope this helps...Hugh

June Chat
Might be being a little optimistic with the word 'chat'...but seeing as we have got some big turnouts this month thought perhaps that ppl will want to talk about the great racing we are getting at the mo!
Crew stuff as well seems to be becoming an issue...so just post any vacancies for this month.

May 2007 update
Laser 2000/ Musto Skiff open September 2008- Although not set in stone the exciting possibility for ccsc to host a combined asmmetric event has arisen...thanks to Pete...will keep everyone informed.
Weymouth regatta this weekend...i have entered...the possibility to race in the bay+sea breeze=glamour racing or alternatively carnage...either way sounds good to me...so hopefully will see some of you out there!
Asymmetric training...note to self need to arrange dates...any ideas?
Musto Skiff training/sail about together...sunday or sat afternoons?
Hugh.
P.S sorry about spelling and possibly the most un concise update ever...its not as if anyone will read it haha!

Sail Numbers
One of the most frustrating things is racing but not getting a result because you are not on the computer!! If you could post on this thread the sailnumber you intend to use this season then I can make sure the computer is updated.

Banter
I have set this thread up, so people can ask questions regarding the current setup of this webpage, and have a bit of a chat before the season starts.
